Fox underwent surgery, Broncos to ‘carry on’ what he started

John Fox underwent aortic replacement surgery early Monday morning in Charlotte and is now in the process of recovering. The Broncos are awaiting further news, but Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway said everything is “positive up to this point.”

Denver held a team meeting before practice. They’ll continue their preparation for the game against AFC West division opponent San Diego on Sunday.

“We’re on a mission to carry on what Fox has installed and started,” Jack Del Rio said. The defensive coordinator will take on the additional duties of head coach for the time being.

The organization will have a better idea of when he will be able to return to coaching as he begins to recover from surgery.
