Elway tells linebacker where the play was headed…. then it goes the opposite way

There is much more to the Broncos legendary quarterback John Elway then just his toothy grin. New York Giants linebacker Jessie Armstead can certainly attest.

Denver was 13-0 and in the process of winning their second of back-to-back Super Bowls. Elway came to the line of scrimmage, calling out signals, ready to unleash all the weapons at his disposal. He set wide receiver Ed McCaffrey in motion as he casually smirked at Armstead, a fine player in his own right, across the way. Then Elway nodded to the Giants linebacker,  motioning to the direction of the play. As if to challenge his opponent, the ever-competitive Elway’s gesture said, ‘Here it comes. Just try to stop us.’

Elway then proceeded to hand the ball off to Terrell Davis in the opposite direction. Nothing like a little gamesmanship from No. 7.
